"SoP's" Win With Defensive Deftness

The "Son of Pitches" are our Friday Night Softball champions after taking out the top team from the regular season, "Cleats & Cleavage". The two were neck-and-neck throughout the season, so it wasn't a surprise when they met for the championship game.

Both teams had to win their first games of the night to get their first, and both did just that. The offense for "Cleats & Cleavage" showed up big time in their first game of the night putting up 14 runs on their opponent. "Sons of Pitches" went the opposite route and won thanks to their strong defensive effort, winning by the score of 4-1. The way both teams played in round one meant for an interesting championship game. Would defense win out for "Sons of Pitches" or would the potent offense of "Cleats & Cleavage" be too much?

Entering the game you had to think "Cleats & Cleavage" had an advantage, given their 14-4 blowout win over "Sons of Pitches" early in the season. Little did we know things would be very different.

Instead, "Sons of Pitches" was the one who would assert their dominance, using defense to propel themselves to the championship. They were able to pick up six runs while cooling down the high-powered offense of their opponent, and allowing just four runs. The four runs allowed was the lowest total "Cleats & Cleavage" had scored since the first week of the season. Either way, the 6-4 win for "Sons of Pitches" meant they were the champion!

Congratulations to "Sons of Pitches" on their great win! They've shown everyone that, at least on this night, great defense beats great hitting.

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.
º Forfeits
Parenthesized numbers indicate wins or losses by forfeit.
When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
