The "Swamp Donkeys" are our latest Friday softball champion, working their way to the championship in a pair of strong playoff wins. They were the top team all season and it showed on Friday night as they took care of business. Overall they finish with a 9-1 record and a whopping +55 point differential.
As the #1 seed, "Swamp Donkeys" took on the #4 ranked "Bad News Beers". Unlike the first encounter earlier this season between the two teams, this was not a close game. In fact, this time around "Swamp Donkeys" got hot at the plate and won the game easily 11-1. Meanwhile, the other half of the bracket featured a thrilling 2 vs 3 match-up, with "Swingers Club" taking down last season's champ "Sons of Pitches" by the score of 4-1.
In the championship game our champs stayed red-hot at the plate, picking up another 9 runs. All this while their defense stood strong, giving up just 4 runs. It was certainly a competitive game, but thanks to a solid all-around game by the "Swamp Donkeys", one that never seemed in question.
Congratulations to the "Swamp Donkeys" on the league title! Fridays nights are never easy to win, but they proved that this season they were clearly the best team!
