Wednesday night Beginner Sand Volleyball wrapped up at Howe Park with a competitive playoff run featuring the top 6 teams out of a 12 team field and in the end, it was the #3 seed Unprotected Sets who rose above the rest to claim the championship.
The quarterfinals got things started with #4 seed Big Ol Hitties advancing over #5 seed Spike’s Hard Lemonade in straight sets, while #3 seed Unprotected Sets handled #6 seed Artichoke Me with a 2-0 win of their own. In the semifinals, the #1 seed Cold 6 Pack showed their strength with a clean 2-0 victory over Big Ol Hitties, while Unprotected Sets continued their run by taking down the #2 seed Volley Stealers in straight sets to secure their place in the finals.
That set up a championship showdown between the top seed and a red hot #3 seed, and the finals absolutely delivered. Cold 6 Pack came out strong, taking the opening set 21-11 and putting themselves one set away from the title. But Unprotected Sets responded immediately, battling back to take the second set 21-18 and force a deciding third.
With everything on the line, the final set was as close as it gets. Both teams traded points down to the wire, but Unprotected Sets came through in the clutch, edging out a dramatic 22-20 win to secure the championship.
By taking down the #2 seed and then the #1 seed, the #3 seed Unprotected Sets completed an impressive playoff run and claimed the Wednesday night Beginner Sand Volleyball crown. Thank you to all teams for coming out, competing all season, and making it another great league. We look forward to seeing everyone back next season! 🏆🏐🔥
