Spring Kick-Off Kickball Tournament!

The "Dirty Denim Drinkers" are our Spring Kick-Off Kickball Tournament champs after an extra-inning affair was needed to decide the winner.

They got their day started off on the right foot with a 5-2 victory over "Kicks in the Hall" but followed that with a loss to "Going Up On a 2's Day" by the final of 5-4 to give them a record of 1-1. Meanwhile the fourth team in Division A, "Where My Pitches At?!", was also 1-1 entering the final game of pool play versus "Dirty Denim Drinkers".

In that game the "Dirty Denim Drinkers" survived their first test of the afternoon by eeking out a win against a tough opponent. They broke a 1-1 stalemate late in the the game to take a 3-1 win and advance to the playoffs as a #2 seed.

As the #2 seed from Division A our eventual champs took on the #1 seed from the other divison, "Tinderellas". Despite "Tinderellas" being a top seed, "Dirty Denim Drinkers" were able to cruise to a 10-1 win to seal their spot in the finals.

In the other playoff game the #1 seed from Division A, "Going Up On a 2's Day," handily took care of their opponent "We Be Ballin" to set up a rematch of a tight game earlier in the day.

In the championship game "Going Up On a 2's Day" took an early lead, but were unable to hang onto it. In the bottom of the fifth the "Dirty Denim Drinkers" were able to tie the game up and send it into extras.

In the sixth inning "Going Up On a 2's Day" picked up a run to take a 5-4 lead. But, once again 'Triple-D' would not be denied and was able to pick up a run of their own on a sacrifice fly before the inning ended, forcing a 7th inning.

In the seventh inning "Going Up On a 2's Day" once again put the pressure on by picking up a run in the top of the inning to take another one-run lead. But, with both teams getting a runner at second and third base to start the inning, it didn't feel like they scored enough.

Rather than just tying the game, the "Dirty Denim Drinkers" were able to put the whole thing away. First they tied the game at six apiece, then got a walk-off base hit to seal the deal with a final of 7-6.

Congrats to the "Dirty Denim Drinkers" on winning a game only fitting of a championship in spectacular fashion!
