Pickleball - Thursdays (Late Spring '25)

The energy was high and the competition fierce over two weeks of playoff pickleball at Howe Park, as six teams from the Thursday Night Beginner I division battled it out for the league crown. With great rallies, a few surprises, and dominant performances from the top seeds, the season wrapped with a championship-worthy finish.

Quarterfinals kicked off with four teams looking to earn their spot in the semis. The 4-seed Workin’ Gerkins advanced automatically after the 5-seed Ace Holes were forced to forfeit. On the other court, the 6-seed Pickle Party pulled off a fun upset, edging past the 3-seed Pickle Princesses in a tight 2–1 matchup to keep their season alive.

In the semifinals, the top seeds entered the court and quickly showed why they were the ones to beat. The 1-seed Really Big Dills rolled through Workin’ Gerkins with a clean 2–0 win, while the 2-seed Dill with it matched the performance with a 2–0 victory of their own over Pickle Party. That set the stage for the final matchup everyone was hoping for—#1 vs. #2 with everything on the line.

The championship match featured the league’s two best teams—but only one came out on top. The Really Big Dills came out focused and fired up, playing clean and confident pickleball from start to finish. They never let up, sweeping Dill with it 2–0 and closing out their undefeated playoff run with authority.

🥇 Congratulations to the Really Big Dills – Your Thursday Night Beginner I Champions!

With back-to-back titles under their belts, the Dills have officially established a mini-dynasty in the division. Two-time champs, never dropping a single playoff game this season—their name fits, and they’re living up to it.

We’ll be watching next season to see if anyone can stop the streak!
