Softball - Sunday Funday League (Late Spring '14)

Our Late Spring 2014 Sunday softball season wrapped up yesterday with a great day of playoff action. The top 6 teams laced up their cleats, and took to the field with championship aspirations. But in the end, there could be only one...

The action got underway as the shorthanded #6 seed Sloshball Sluggers fell to #3 seed I'd Hit That 8-4, as I'd Hit That was able to amass a string of consecutive 2 run innings. In the second opening round game #4 seed Just The Tip put on an offensive fireworks display as they plated 16 runs en route to a dominant win over #5 seed Sit On My Base.

Our first semi-final clash featured #2 seed Nice Snatch versus I'd Hit That. Substantial underdogs coming into the game, I'd Hit That capitalized on the momentum they had achieved in their earlier victory and jumped out to an insurmountable lead on Nice Snatch, who were never able to find their groove in the game, and ran away with an 11-4 win. The second semi-final saw the #1 seed Master Batters take on #4 seed Just The Tip in a game that expected to highlight the offensive powerhouses. Just The Tip used up their runs in the prior game, and the fresh legs of The Master Batters proved too much to handle in an 11-7 victory.

The championship game was a David versus Goliath affair, and the top seeded Master Batters lived up to their name as they scored double digit runs for the second straight game and held I'd Hit That in check. I'd Hit That had a long day and fatigue started to set in. Doubles became singles, and routine plays became not so easy. Master Batters had hit their stride and kept on trucking runs to home plate winning by a final of 10-6.

Congratulations to The Master Batters and to all of the teams that competed in a great softball season.
