"Sac to the Future II" is our defending champion thanks to an exhilarating final match that saw them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Both "Control Your Hole" and "Sac to the Future II" made quick work of their opponents on playoff night with back to back sweeps, allowing them to face off in the championship.
When "Sac to the Future II" played "Control Your Hole" on the very first week of the season, they lost quickly -- and knew they had to find a way to face them in playoffs to regain their multiple Friday championship wins. "Control Your Hole" had come from Wednesday as the reigning champ, and were looking to secure Friday night as well.
The first match saw Stefan facing off against Danny -- with Trusty Ol' Will facing Alex. The VERY FIRST BAGS thrown were Stef and Danny nailing each bag as a Cornhole...cancelling each other out for no points, but also leading to astonished cheers from the room around them to witness such a great match right out the gate. Although "Sac to the Future II" fought valiantly, they lost both matches as Danny and Alex pulled ahead to gain a huge lead.
The third match -- to keep "Sac to the Future II" alive against the undefeated "Control Your Hole" -- had to be won. This time we saw Danny and Alex face off against Stef and Dan. They came out swinging, as Stef and Danny continued to sink bag after bag. Dan knew right where he needed to place each bag to pull the lead. In that match it came down to single digit margins, meaning Stef HAD to pull off a clutch Cornhole in order to pull ahead and win -- which he did handily. Still alive!
The next match saw Stef and Dan face off against Danny and Cody in a game which saw Stef and Dan keep it close, pulling ahead late to clinch. The room was losing their mind as we headed into the tie-breaker last match.
The last match bounced back and forth between teams, until "Sac to the Future II" pulled ahead and nailed the final win! Coming back from a 2-0 lead by "Control Your Hole", "Sac to the Future II" took the championship again as everyone in the room congratulated ALL players for an outstanding season AND playoff match to watch. We'll see "Sac to the Future II" again next season, as "Control Your Hole" looks to see what other Xoso Sports they can dominate before making their return!
