The "Squirrelfriends" are our Thursday volleyball champions, taking down "Just the Tip" in a thrilling 2-1 game. The win caps a perfect 10-0 record! Couple that with a +24 set differential and this team was truly dominant this season.
Their first match of the night was arguably their toughest. In game 1 their opponent "Nasty Nine" held a 17-14 lead before "Squirrelfriends" found their groove and came back to not only tie things, but take the first set 21-18.
In game two "Nasty Nine started out strong again with a 7-1 lead. After a timeout the "Squirrelfriends" got to within one point at 7-6 before "Nasty Nine" pushed back to a 20-10 lead. They'd eventually win that game 21-14. That would be the best the "Nasty Nine" had to offer though, and our champs took care of business by closing things out with a 21-14 scoreline in the third game.
In the championship the "Squirrelfriends" jumped out to a lead in game one, slowly adding points to their lead before winning 21-15. The same happened in game three, which our champs took easily 21-12.
Throughout the season it was business as usual, with "Squirrelfirends" taking down opponents with ease. Things got a bit hairy at the end of the season against "Smokin' Aces", but a 22-20 win in the 3rd set kept their perfect record intact. Amazingly, that was the first game all season they had even lost a set.
