Our Spring 2014 Thursday Dodgeball league finished with a bang last night as Government Cheese won the championship by beating an exhausted Bats and Boobs team in a dramatic championship game.
The playoffs got underway with a great matchup, the #4 seed Bats and Boobs edged out #5 Beastie Balls by a score of 3-2 to setup a semi-final clash with powerhouse and #1 seed Dodgeaholics. The second opening round game featured a victory by #3 seed Ballz to the Wall versus #6 seed Team A, however Ballz to the Wall was disqualified in their semi-final match against #2 Gov't Cheese.
A trip to the finals was at stake when Bats and Boobs coming off a hard fought victory in the opening round took the court against a rested and confident Dodgeaholics fresh off a first round bye and a dominant regular season. But Bats and Boobs were not to be overlooked as they called on their experience and imposed thier will in defeating Dodgeaholics 4-2 in a moderate upset.
That setup a clash in the finals between rested but untested Gov't Cheese who had a bye in the first round and advanced to the Championship game via disqualification, and a Bats and Boobs team that was running low on energy following two rigorous matches. Bats and Boobs jumped out to an early lead 1 to 0, but ultimately ran out of gas, eventually falling 4 games to 2 as Gov't Cheese found their rhythm and never looked back.
Congratulations to Gov't Cheese and to all of the teams that competed in a great dodgeball season!
