"Ball Busters" is our Tuesday Kickball champion, winning three games last night to be crowned league champion. It was clutch win after clutch win for this squad, with all of their games going down to the wire.
Despite their #5 seed, the "Ball Busters" were seen as a legitimate title threat after losing in the championship game last season. However, winning three games in a row is a tough feat for any team, and the fact they were able to do it was incredible.
In their first game of the evening the "Ball Busters" took on "Whiskey Kick" in the 4 vs 5 match up. It was a 4-4 tie heading into the last inning where eventually "Ball Busters" broke through with three runs in the top half on a couple of defensive miscues and some heads up base-running. In the bottom half of the inning their defense came out and shut things down, closing out with a 7-4 inning.
Next up for "Ball Busters" was the top ranked team from the regular season, "We've Got the Runs". Again it was a tight game throughout with the score tied at 2-2 through 4 innings. The "Ball Busters" went on to break the tie in the 5th with another run, followed by two more in the 6th to make it 5-2. Eventually the score would hold there with "Ball Busters" heading to the finals.
In the championship game "Ball Busters" met "My Pitches are Bad & Boujee" aftter winning a couple of one run games of their own.
This game turned out to be very similar, with "Ball Busters" coming out on top by the narrowest of margins in a thrilling 4-3 win. Clutch kicking was again the key for "Ball Busters", scoring multiple runs late in the 6th inning and shutting down any chance of a comeback in the 7th.
Congratulations to "Ball Busters" on the championship win! It is well deserved, especially after winning all three thrilling games!
